Two complete sets, 12 cards per set, issued by the English and Scottish Joint Co-operative Society, pertaining to their activities
in the British tea trade. One set of 12 cards illustrates various aspects of the trade, including views of estate, factory,
planting, picking and packaging in Ceylon; blending and packing machinery; overseas shipping; C.W.S. warehouses in London
and Salford; and scenes of domestic retail and home use. Printed on back of this set: English and Scottish Joint C.W.S. tea
is filling the nation's pot. The other set pertains specifically to the Society's Rose of the Orient film series (released
1935), and is illustrated by scenes of planting, picking, fermenting and spreading seeds; scenes of Ceylon plantation laborers
at school, playing music and at other gatherings; and historical scenes of Queen Catherine and Dr. Samuel Johnson enjoying
tea. Printed on the back of this set: The Rose of the Orient film series. English and Scottish Joint C.W.S. tea is filling
the nation's teapot.
